Celebrating 10 Years and Media 2.0!

This year marks Minnick Web Services’ 10-year anniversary. I’m very proud that we’ve been in business so long and that we continue to grow and to provide a great place to work for a bunch of talented and fascinating people (we’re up to a staff of 12 now!). I’m also very proud of the long-term relationships we’ve built with so many of our clients. We’ve been working with some of you for years, and with several for 9 or 10 years. Thank you!

In a recent newsletter, I talked about how to interpret Web stats and which stats are important. That newsletter generated a lot of interest from my readers, and I eventually expanded on it and incorporated it into a session that Margaret and I led at the Western Publishers Association (WPA) Conference in April titled "Turning Content into Profit". Here's a very brief summary of what we talked about during this 3-hour session:

Most magazine publishers have archived editorial content that's currently rotting on the digital vines – or worse, on a physical shelf somewhere. Much of this content can be reused to create new digital products that benefit the reader, advertisers, and the magazine's bottom line.

If you'd like a copy of our powerpoint presentation from this session, please email me. To read past issues of the MWS Newsletter, please visit http://www.minnickweb.com.

The response to our presentation was positive, and we came away with a deeper understanding of magazine publishers and the challenges that they’re facing – particularly with building, expanding, or keeping up with the growth of their online presence.

The common thread that keeps coming up in our discussions with publishers is that there’s a real need for specialized, flexible, and affordable e-Media Web products and services. To help meet this need, we recently hired 3 more programmers to develop and support our ePublishing tools, which we’re now calling the “MWS Media 2.0 Suite”. p.s. One of the reasons I haven’t written a newsletter in so long is that my writing efforts were all focused on my short-lived syndicated column, Web 8.0. It turns out that the market for paid syndicated content on the Web wasn’t as big as my agency believed. However, my articles are still available at http://watersidesyndication.com/inbusiness/?cat=22. Enjoy!
